What do you think you gained / will take away from your placement at MCFB?

I think I’ll take away a better understanding of the third sector here in Scotland and the impact of community based social work, especially for the populations MCFB directly serves. This is especially illuminating because the lecture portion of being an MSW student here in Scotland only covers so much, and it is helpful to experience real life situations in addition to academic social work theory.

What do you think you were able to contribute to the work?

Hopefully I’ll have a positive impact on families I’ve been able to work with throughout this placement, even if it’s tiny! I think positivity and support go a long way professionally in social care, so I hope I’ll also leave a positive impact on the other students and MCFB staff I’ve met throughout this placement, in the same manner they’ve positively encouraged and influenced me.

What will be your lasting impression / memory of MCFB?

I don’t want to think about the end of my placement yet! MCFB is emotionally warm and even as a student, it’s easy to see the rapport families and children have when they interact with MCFB staff and students. It’s lovely.
