What do you think you gained / will take away from your placement at MCFB?

As a student from the United States attending Florida State University, I traveled over 4,000 miles from home to do my social work placement. One of the biggest things I’ve gained from MCFB is a home away from home and a professional community where I feel valued and supported. From my very first day, I felt welcomed and encouraged to learn and grow throughout my time here. I will take away the knowledge and expertise that staff members have shared through both educational and hands-on opportunities. Every day I learn something new and step outside my comfort zone, growing both personally and professionally. MCFB has been an ideal learning environment that has given me the confidence to try new things, empowered me to make mistakes, and challenged me to do things I’ve never done before.

What do you think you were able to contribute to the work of MCFB?

My lasting memory of MCFB will be of the incredibly passionate staff members and students who make MCFB the impactful organization that it is. Each person puts their heart into everything they do. Whether working directly with families, mentoring students, or supporting one another as colleagues. The warmth, compassion, and sense of community within MCFB are truly special, and I’ll carry those values with me.
